Inflation will not likely be cured by 2022. That
gladdens hearts of GOP politicians.

 https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2021/12/29/inflation-2022-price-fed/

But the only way they will be able to stop it is with
a recession. Either way they would lose in 2024 -
unless they took steps to make sure they never lose again.
So they are suppressing voting rights every way they can -
especially the right to cast a vote that means something.
But it's hard for most voters to see the connection of
voting rights to their pocketbooks. Don't expect GOP
to undermine minority rule by enlightening them.

GOP doesn't want legal immigration and doesn't want to
support families. Who do they think is going to do
the work?

 https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/12/01/enhanced-child-tax-credit-is-smart-investment-senate-should-extend-it/

Do you stand by and let roughly one-quarter of Black and
Hispanic children continue to live in poverty?

Yes, actually, that polls very well with the Trumpist
donors and voters - even the poor ones.

So far GOP has plenty of criticism but no actual
solutions -

 https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2021/11/14/inflation-economy-biden-prices/

Suggestions:

1) Deregulate! Allow 12-year-olds to drive 18-wheelers
for $15/hour instead of going to school. They can handle
guns, why not trucks?

2) Wolfowitz lives! Invade Iraq again to steal their oil
and make them pay for the war.

3) Convert $15 minimum wage to $15 MAXIMUM wage for
hourly workers.

4) Re-institute selective service for all Gen Z's and make
them go to work. Surely their kids can survive home
alone for 12 hours of fasting and no diaper changes every
day. Save money and reduce inflationary pressures by
PROHIBITING any and all vaccinations and masking.

5) Suspend entitlement payments such as Social Security
and unemployment compensation until inflation ends.

6) More billionaire tax relief! Because everything
tastes better with billionaire tax relief on it - for
senators who vote for it and the job creator donors
that paid for their campaigns. (But is it fair to
keep impugning the motives of 2 or 3 GOP senators just
because of the actions of a tiny minority of 47 or 48
GOP senators?)

Don't think you're likely to consistently do better picking
stocks than professional money managers. Passive index
stock funds outperform actively managed funds on average.

 https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/savingandinvesting/jill-on-money-indexing-is-standing-the-test-of-time/ar-AAQ1Oiq

Simplest investment advice: figure out when you need the
money, then invest by dollar-cost-averaging in a suitable
no-load target date fund. Vanguard, Fidelity, and T
Rowe Price are all good bets.

The primary impetus for regional federalism -

 https://www.political-scrapbook.net/2020-regional.html

GOP might gain control of Congress in 2022.

 https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2021/10/30/biden-team-struggles-promote-economic-message-inflation-persists/

Persuadable swing voters will make up their minds based
on current supply chain and inflation EFFECTS rather than
long-term CAUSES. The Federal government can do
very little in the short term about supply chain issues
and that part of inflation - it's primarily the result of
covid crashing into global outsourcing and just-in-time
logistics built up over the last 40 years. Trump should
be glad it's an issue he can complain about now, that will
resolve itself by the time he's president.

As far as inflation, the other side of inflation is
increasing wages because the pandemic, which in turn
increases prices. In the long run that's a good thing
if it increases the fraction of value-added that goes
to labor instead of capital. It makes it easier for
the average worker to switch jobs to obtain competitive
compensation. Trump might talk big but the GOP
Congress and judiciary will return to the union-busting job
creating precepts of their donors in 2025 just as in 2017.
He's like to restore his inflationary tariffs that Biden
is finally starting to undo.

But the average persuadable swing voter doesn't follow
politics or economics enough to care about root causes
of current negative effects on him. They're hard to
condense into a truthful 30 second ad.

Supply-chain-induced inflation was caused by the inevitable
collision of just-in-time logistics

 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lean_manufacturing

with an unforeseen disaster, namely covid. There's no
quick fix available to Biden or anybody else.

 https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/10/22/why-supply-chain-crunch-will-continue-into-2022/

Undeterred by mere facts, GOP will blame Biden anyway.
They won't address the real causes, because just-in-time
increases profit margins for their donors and ignoring
covid appeals to their voters.

Common people built America's wealth too. But the
elites that profit from their labor distract them with
culture wars and stoke fears of socialism, deficits,
inflation, and taxes, to prevent real change.

 https://www.political-scrapbook.net/2020-minority.html

Starting with the Reagan era, income and wealth inequality
has grown so great that it threatens American democracy.

 https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/09/23/robert-kagan-constitutional-crisis/

That's why the common man deserves $4 trillion -

 https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/30/opinion/federal-spending-democrats.html

William Jennings Bryan actually said it best -

There are two ideas of government. There are those who
believe that, if you will only legislate to make the
well-to-do prosperous, their prosperity will leak through
on those below. The Democratic idea, however, has been
that if you legislate to make the masses prosperous, their
prosperity will find its way up through every class which
rests upon them.

In many ways Bryan was a Trumpist before his time -
his intentional or accidental ignorance about monetary
policy and evolution clearly qualify him - but he was a
great orator.

Funny money funnies 3 - wrong answers from Eric Cantor!

 https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/old-debt-ceiling-fights-had-a-purpose-this-one-doesnt/2021/10/01/847a3b74-2237-11ec-9309-b743b79abc59_story.html

The debt ceiling fights haven't changed. As always,
they are partisan fights for partisan advantage. The
difference is we have more reality-deprived reality-TV
legislators willing to actually default on the debt than
we did in Cantor's day, as the wheels of fantasy set in
motion by Thurmond, Gingrich, and the Tea Party grind
on relentlessly.

The correct answer is to abolish the debt limit - which
governs already approved spending - and argue convincingly
against new expenditures - if they can.

Of course, GOP politicians like Cantor know perfectly
well that most new expenditures are popular with voters,
while debt limit resolutions are popular with major donors.
As always in the minority rule GOP, the donors win.

Union-busting, and increasing wealth disparity, are among
the fundamental goals of minority rule. Workers try
to fight back -

 https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/05/opinion/labor-day-union.html

Their greatest ally has been the covid crisis. Just as
the years after the Black Death saw a rise in the value of
labor relative to capital, and thus the rise of a middle
class -

 https://historydaily.org/black-plague-labor-shortages-empowered-working-class

profound labor shortages throughout the post-covid economy
are returning some power to the workers. That's why
the legislators supporting minority rule are so eager to
reduce or eliminate any subsidy or law that makes workers
more expensive or less exploitable.
