Columns of Post Tables

The table above has these entries. Post entries with just one line for Reach were not boosted. Boosted posts have two lines for Reach and several other items. The upper line reflects all interactions, the bottom line just those resulting from paid ads.

• "Title" is either a link to the actual Facebook post, or a link to a plain-text version of that post, which also has the URL of the actual Facebook post.
• "Post/Boost" contains the start date of post and end date of boost.
• "Reach" is the number of views of the post.
• "Like" includes all the emoticon responses: Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry. For boosted posts, the lower Like is the number of Page Likes generated by the post.
• "Comments" is the number of comments on the post.
• "Shares" is the number of shares of the post.
• "Clicks" is the number of clicks on links cited in the post.
• "Hide" is the number of negative "Hide Post" responses.
• "Hide All" is the number of negative "Hide All Posts" responses.
• "Cost" For boosted posts is the price in cents paid per click - lower is better.

Mixed Messages for Facebook Advertisers

Some of the unboosted posts on this page generate this
happy talk from Facebook:

Boost Your Post

Your post is performing better than 95% of other posts on
your Page. Boost it now to reach even more people.

(Boost means pay to advertise).  But both times this
happened and the boost was attempted, this was the unhappy
response:

Your Post Wasn't Boosted Sorry, but we're having
trouble boosting your post and are working to solve the
problem. Please try again.

Google that error message and one finds suggestions to
clear the browser, use a different browser, etc... none of
that works.     Other posts before and after, with similar
content and the same parameters, were able to boost.  So it
must have something to do with the content... but what?

Facebook turn down advertising revenue?    Man bites dog!
You can go to the Help Center and Report a Problem, and
you get a generic thank you and no promise that anything
more will happen.

Some other advice from the web suggests to promote a post
directly from the Ads Manager.      That failed with this
enlightening message:

"Page Does Not Have Domain Advertising Permission:
Your Page does not have permission to run ads for the
domain www.washingtonpost.com. Reach out to the domain
owner to get permission."

And indeed, it looks like the posts that can boost do not
have links to the Post.  So this page will not boost the
Post in its posts.

But why couldn't Facebook say that right up front instead
of suggesting that they are "working on it."
