Why are drug prices increasing so rapidly in the US?
Because the price of a Senate campaign is increasing so
rapidly, and somebody has to pay for it!

 https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/12/10/house-democrats-find-three-year-investigation-that-drug-prices-are-unsustainable-unjustifiable-unfair/

Wherever you find a stumbling block toward greater economic
or political democracy, you find unlimited dark campaign
money behind it - with fierce bipartisan defenders in
Congress.

Governments at all levels have been dis-investing in mental
health for decades

 https://apnews.com/article/lifestyle-health-arrests-only-on-ap-81d7a75c445a73709ff31e12d99583ce

Governor Ronald Reagan led the way in the 1960's by
mainstreaming patients out of state mental hospitals into
local housing which often became freeway underpasses.
It worked - it got mental health off the state budget.
Too bad for the counties who weren't able to handle the
new responsibilities.

Now the current GOP gubernatorial candidates want to solve
homelessness by building mandatory shelters. Mandatory
as in insane asylums, work camps, concentration camps,
or jails - all the same to the mentally ill homeless.
As usual they don't have a credible plan to pay for all
that - they're not going to put it back on the state
budget.

But soon they'll remember that the solution for all
problems is to reduce taxes on the rich. At least
the rich will be able to better afford private mental
health care. And to deregulate the rich - so they can
run mental health care facility chains any way they want.
